Adult Education Facilitator (Bridge ABE)
Adult Education (AE) Facilitators lead adult education classes in Bridge and RI-BEST programs to master content area foundational skills and pre-college mathematics. The Bridge Program prepares adult learners to build foundational reading, writing, and mathematics skills needed to advance toward their educational goals and successfully prepare for the GED exams.
Bridge Facilitators support students who are entering adult education with varying academic backgrounds and who need structured, foundational instruction before progressing to obtain a High School Equivalency (HSE/GED), or other CCRI pathways. Facilitators provide intentional instruction, scaffold learning to build confidence and independence, and help students strengthen core academic skills while developing effective study habits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CCRI Adult Education is hiring for multiple programs to start in person on Providence Campus.
Providence Campus Adult Basic Education (ABE) Bridge Program (18 hrs/wk): Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu 9 AM – 12 PM, prep time included. Start Date: January 26th
Provide foundational instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics for adult learners preparing for GED-level coursework.
Deliver engaging, level-appropriate lessons that address skill gaps and support student progression toward Bridge Level 2.
Scaffold instruction to help students build confidence, academic independence, and effective study habits.
Use adult learning principles to support learners with diverse educational backgrounds and life experiences.
Integrate GED-aligned content and practice to prepare students for future exam readiness.
Assess student progress using formative assessments, CASAS data, and classroom observations, and adjust instruction accordingly.
Support students in developing academic persistence, goal-setting skills, and readiness for next steps in their educational pathway.
Collaborate with program staff to support student retention, attendance, and transitions within the Bridge program or other CCRI Pathways.
Maintain accurate documentation related to attendance, assessments, and student progress, in alignment with program and state requirements.
Create a supportive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that values adult learners and their experiences.
Providence Campus Adult Secondary Education (ASE) Bridge Program (9 hrs/wk): Tue & Thu 5:30-8:30 PM. Start Date January 27th
Facilitate a structured, self-paced blended learning classroom that supports adult learners preparing for the GED across all subject areas.
Support students in using online learning platforms and tools such as IXL, KET Forward/Fast Forward, Khan Academy, and other GED-aligned resources to build foundational skills.
Monitor student progress across digital platforms and use data to guide support, pacing, and next steps.
Provide targeted mini-lessons, small-group instruction, and one-on-one support in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies based on student needs.
Adapt instruction and support in real time to meet the needs of learners at different levels and with varied goals.
Create and maintain a dynamic, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages persistence and confidence.
Collaborate with program staff to support student engagement, retention, and transitions within the Bridge program.
Maintain accurate records related to attendance, student progress, and instructional notes, in alignment with program and state requirements.
Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and responsiveness in supporting adult learners within a blended learning model.
Technology:
Use Google and other digital platforms to work with students and with Bridge team.
Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate and use information resources to support research and learning.

Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required
Three years of experience working with adult students or adults with learning difficulties and an understanding of differentiation and universal design preferred.
Experience with adult education curriculum for NorthStar, Teaching the Skills that Matter, CASAS Competencies preferred, Calm Math, college and career readiness standards.
Experience motivating students in the learning process required.
Excellent interpersonal communications required.
Knowledge and proficiency in Google G-Suite and/or Microsoft Office is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience working with adult students or adults with learning difficulties and an understanding of differentiation and universal design.
